How can YOU help?

WLWV ED 4 ALL is supporting two issues in the 2025 regular legislative session:

Lifting Special Ed Funding Cap in Oregon

THE ISSUE: Every school district in Oregon only receives funding for up to 11% of its students needing special education supports, but WLWV has 14% of its students that qualify. Raising the cap would increase the budget by $2.25 million for WLWV.

THE SOLUTION:

Advocate for passage of HB 2953 and HB 2448. These bills have already passed the House Education Committee, an important first step.

  • HB 2953 - Eliminates the 11% special education funding cap

  • HB 2448 - Increases funds to the High Cost Disabilities Account

Next steps:

  • Send a message to the House Committee on Revenue, where these bills currently are

Support Governor Kotek’s Proposed Education Budget

THE ISSUE: Governor Kotek has proposed an $11.36 billion budget for the 2025-27 State School Fund. This would be a significant 11% increase in how the state funds education and would help school districts around Oregon.

THE SOLUTION: Contact your legislator to ask them to support AT LEAST an 11% increase for education.
