How can YOU help?

WLWV Ed 4 All is following the 2026 short session closely to gear up for advocacy during the 2027 long legislative session. We supported two issues during the 2025 long legislative session:

Lifting the Special Ed Funding Cap in Oregon

THE ISSUE: Every school district in Oregon only receives funding for up to 11% of its students needing special education supports, but WLWV has 14% of its students that qualify. Raising the cap would increase the budget by $2.25 million for WLWV.

THE SOLUTION:

Advocate for passage of HB 2953 and HB 2448

  • HB 2953 - Eliminates the 11% special education funding cap

  • HB 2448 - Increases funds to the High Cost Disabilities Account

Next steps:

Governor Kotek’s Proposed Education Budget

THE ISSUE: Governor Kotek proposed a $11.36 billion budget for the 2025-27 State School Fund. It was a significant 11% increase in how the state funds education and helped school districts around Oregon.

THE SOLUTION: Contact legislators to ask them to support AT LEAST an 11% increase for education.
